These are incredible Michiko! I've never seen his work before - why is that because he really is something! I particularly like the first one with all that floaty fabric and of course the leaping pussy cat too. :) Many thanks for the introduction! I'll have to go check out your flickr album. PS: Many thanks for all your lovely comments on my blog! I was especially interested about your info on Japan!

Amazing photographer. The black cat made me smile... I'm such a sucker for a good cat photo. :)

How GREAT! I love the movement pics, the gymnasts, the dancers. I want to see more!

I'm happy you like them :)

Mary-Laure and Sam: Yes, his movement pics are fascinating and he's known for it, but I actually find more still and subtle works of his very moving and poetic too.

And Sam, I know, I found it surprising there aren't any proper site for Gjon Mili's work, my friend is telling me to make one lol I might do, some time in future.
You're welcome, I always catch up on blog posts later and comment on them at once lol

Gabbi : I know, his photos of animals or people with animals are touching. That black cat in the photograph is Gjon Mili's cat 'Blackie' :)

As you know I've been a faithful follower of your Gjon Mili photos on facebook, but there is something very powerful about it when different categories of photos are viewed altogether, in a sequence (you chose so well - I can imagine how difficult it must have been to pick just three in each category!). It is stunning and one really sees how versatile Mili is. His works on sceneries/places have a tremendously cinematic feel to me. Absolutely wonderful.

Thank you for all your kind comments Poesis, Mothersvea and Roxana, really make me happy :)

Yes they look quite different and powerful when posted together like this, don't they?! I think the black background makes them look more attractive too.
Ting-Jen, wish i could say I spent a lot of time and energy to pick just three photos from each album, (and I wanted to) but I decided I didn't have time, I picked them out rather randomly lol
I think all Gjon Mili's photos are fantastic, no matter which photos I chose to post they would've still looked great anyway.

this is indeed a great artist;
what I find moving are his portraits... I dont know if you know much about his life, but he had an Electrical Eng degree from MIT and he was drawn to photography because of the use of flash photography... His work is a testimony to his ingenuity and creativity.

Having his work on your page is an indication of fine taste.
