I have a strange love for old, ruined buildings. I often have dreams where I am wandering around, lost in some old, deserted building filled with little odd treasures. These images are fantastic. I want to visit all of these places!

I've never dreamed of being in abondoned places, lucky you. I love ruins and old buildings too.

If you visit Shaun O'Boyle's site, you should check out the series called "Holy Lnad" and "Asylum's", they are both fantastic, in a different way.

i think the dusty and forgotten archival drawers are my favorite, or maybe the piano... or the plants overtaking the abandoned space.. oh i guess i can't choose they are all soooo wonderful. xox

thank you for showing us this wonderful series of photographs. they tell so much, in such a quiet, subdued way. the first one is perhaps my favourite.

Dear Asherette, thank you, and yes the drawers, the piano and the plants are my favorite too!

Roxana, thank you, and I agree, one of the things I love about Shaun's photographs is that they are subdued, not too emotionalized or personalized. The first one is most romantic, I think...

This makes me think of the Detroit Book Depository, this huge abandoned building full of old school supplies. I know there's a flickr stream with amazing photos somewhere...

Haunting and beautiful dear Michiko, thank you for introducing me to his work. My favorites are the first one, the thick fog and mysterious building are so intriguing. And I also love the laboratory that seems to be overgrown with plants. There's something very romantic in so much dust collecting.

How stunning!
I have an architect friend who did his thesis on industrial downtownDetroit as a modern ruin place, like an echo of Roman ruins in Rome...

I just sent you a tag on my blog. Hope you don't mind?

These are truly wonderful Michiko. Such detail and mystery - I could look at them for hours! They are a little bit melancholy too - I feel - evidence of full lives lived which are now over. Thank you for the post!

Thank you Michiko for the other Foujito links - they look like he's in Paris drawing/painting pussy cats - I love them! He is a new discovery for me courtesy of you Michiko! Many, many thanks!

Thank you very much every one for your comment, I'm so glad so many of you enjoyed this post!

Ambika and Mary-Laure, I have seen photos of some abondoned places in Detroit taken by my friend before, Detroit seems like an interesting place now....and I will look for the photos stream on flickr, thanks Ambika!

Sam, you're welcome, Foujita's drawings are lovely and his life was extraordinary....yes he lived in Paris and became a French citizen. His art was highly appreciated in France but in Japan he was treated like he had commited a treason.
Glad you liked his works Sam!
