Johann Strauss II - Pizzicato Polka

I spent New Year's Day listening to Johann Strauss II, and every time I listen to his music I get addicted to the charmingly disguised aggression in his music, it's almost like a powerful force that leads us to destruction, the more you listen to it the more you crave for it.
Somewhow I tend to feel very destructive in the beginning of year.

This one isn't a perfect example, but it's lovely, thought I'd share with you...

Happy New Year :)

How lovely was that? I've not heard that before - all that plucking! The plucking makes me smile for some reason - there's an element of fun in there!

Happy New Year Michiko! Really looking forward to following your blog this year! :)

Happy New Year Michiko!

I loved the video, it's great how you can see them from that impossible perspective. I like the way that violinist on the end seems to jump out of his chair, almost as if he's itching to get up and dance :)

You're right on the destruction part of the new year, taking certain things apart to start newer things maybe?

Thank you for your kind comments everyone, I'm glad you all enjoyed the music!

That wasn't a perfect example to show the element I described in his music, it's more obvious in full orchestrated music. It's also hard to tell by just listening to one piece of his music, but if you keep listening for 30mins. you'll feel like just forget everything and dance the blues away......to destruction lol
It's not destruction in violent kind of way, more like self-destruction, with style lol

Yes I love the plucking (pizzicato) too, Sam.

You're right Gabbi, it's about taking certain things apart for a fresh start.

Happy New Year to you all, and I'm looking forward to reading all your posts in 2009 too!
